I am a long-time antiwar activist who believes that the U.S. spends too much of its budget on wars and on preparing for wars, and not enough on meeting the needs of its own people. So when we go looking for the money we need for new initiatives in health care, economic recovery programs, or alternative energy projects, I think we can find much of it in a military budget which has been bloated beyond recognition during the Bush/Cheney years.
